Restaurant Artwork – Wojciech Nowikowski
Introducing our latest Restaurant art exhibition
A new exhibition curated exclusively for OXO Tower has appeared on our Restaurant walls. Six paintings by the Polish born, London artist, Wojciech Nowikowski will be on show in the OXO Tower Restaurant from late November through to March. The series takes its inspiration from the landscape. Translucent layers of rich, seductive colour seem to suggest elusive places where water and earth meet.
Four of the paintings are from his ‘Transitions’ series (2013), painted before a two year period in New York, when uncertainty, change and transience were key preoccupations for the artist. Two further paintings, from his ‘Waning’ series, (2017), demonstrate a robust and confident use of both colour and fulsome form.
The white walls, high ceilings and wonderful quality of light in the restaurant, reflected from the river and passing clouds, provide a perfect day time setting for the paintings. At night, when the lighting is more intimate, their lyrical quality is emphasised and enhanced.
