OXO X Sotis Studio Ceramics

Collaboration with Sotis Studio Ceramics

The OXO Tower wharf is a thriving hub of independent designers and artists.

Aways keen to work with local artists, we reached out to a fellow OXO Tower business, Sotis Ceramic Studios. Together we set out on a mission to upcycle some of our existing plates that are no longer in use and were considered a little outdated. Working with Sotis to define which colours to use and a rather loose brief on the design. The process involves creating a new artwork for the plate out of glaze and dipping the plate to coat the surface with a new finish. The plate is then fired in a kiln to set the glaze. The finished design for each is entirely unique with each plate having its own quirks and charms.

Sotis Filippides makes contemporary ceramic wall installations and vessels. Each piece is a tribute to his love of texture. The rough, textured surfaces are created using fine textured clay from Stoke-on-Trent and the natural earthy hues by use of copper and iron oxide glazes. No stranger to the OXO, Sotis previously exhibited a beautiful ceramic art piece on the wall of the brasserie comprising a collection of 24-carat gold plates and black ceramic tiles.

The OXO plates are currently being used to serve the Brasserie sharing dishes, including the Lobster Linguine, and form part of a beautiful collection of new plates now in use.
